Job description

Grants and Contracts Accountant

Location: Tukwila / On-site
Salary Range: $68,640–$76,960 DOE

Our client is a stable, mission-focused nonprofit known for strong financial stewardship, clear internal processes, and a collaborative culture. The organization offers accounting professionals the opportunity to do precise, compliance-driven work in an environment that values accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement—without overexposure or unnecessary complexity.

Our client is seeking a Grants and Contracts Accountant to support grant, contract, and core accounting operations. This Grants and Contracts Accountant role is well suited for an accounting professional who enjoys working with restricted funding, government contracts, and audit-ready documentation. The Grants and Contracts Accountant will partner closely with finance, programs, and development to ensure funds are tracked, billed, and reported correctly.

This Grants and Contracts Accountant position offers hands-on responsibility, structure, and long-term growth potential. If you are detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing compliance with daily accounting tasks, this Grants and Contracts Accountant opportunity may be an excellent fit.

Key Responsibilities

As a Grants and Contracts Accountant, you will:

  • Manage accounting for government contracts and donor-funded grants, including invoicing, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Review grant and contract documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and donor requirements
  • Track active grants and contracts, maintaining accurate schedules, documentation, and records
  • Support audit readiness, including SEFA reporting and coordination of compliance materials

Accounts Receivable & General Accounting

The Grants and Contracts Accountant will also:

  • Process contributions and accounts receivable with accuracy and proper classification
  • Respond to inquiries related to invoices, payments, and account activity
  • Assist with month-end close activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, and roll forwards
  • Help maintain accuracy of general ledger data across revenue streams, payroll, and restricted funding sources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience with grant, contract, or nonprofit accounting
  • Familiarity with government funding and compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured environment
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style

This Grants and Contracts Accountant role provides stability, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to strengthen your expertise in grants and compliance-focused accounting while supporting an organization with a clear and consistent mission.
