Job description

Position Overview
The Accounting Senior Associate will play a key role in supporting the monthly and quarterly consolidated close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-controlled financial reporting deliverables. This role requires a highly analytical accounting professional with advanced Excel skills, strong ownership, and the ability to work collaboratively across global finance teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing detailed account analysis and preparing journal entries and reconciliations, supporting internal and external reporting requirements, and identifying opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve recurring accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close process, including completion of critical reporting deliverables within established deadlines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including complex and adjusting entries, in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations, balance sheet account reviews, and income statement fluctuation analyses to ensure completeness, accuracy, and appropriate documentation.
  • Analyze consolidated balance sheet and income statement results, identify key trends and variances, and provide clear commentary on areas requiring further review.
  • Partner with Technical Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, SEC Reporting, and business unit finance teams to support quarterly reporting requirements and consolidated analytics.
  • Support SEC reporting deliverables, including requests related to Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as applicable.
  • Gather and prepare documentation to support internal and external audit requests, SOX controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with technical accounting research, documentation, and analysis as needed.
  • Identify, recommend, and support process improvements to streamline close activities, automate repetitive entries and reconciliations, and enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Support day-to-day Global Finance activities, including internal purchase order requests, invoice coding, account reviews, and periodic reconciliations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA preferred; master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate accounting, financial reporting, consolidations, or public accounting.
  • Experience working in a multinational, multi-entity, or global finance environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with consolidation accounting, foreign currency translation, restructuring and non-GAAP adjustments, and balance sheet and P&L analysis.

Systems and Technical Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and SUMIFS.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Workday.
  • Experience with BlackLine or similar account reconciliation software preferred.
  • Power BI or other reporting and analytics tool experience preferred.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work within our Durham headquarters 3 days each week.
Pay Range: $80,000-$100,000 (The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity)
