Company Description Since 2009, Solhem has created and maintained beautiful, sustainable homes for our residents and their pets. A locally owned company, Solhem currently manages over 2,300 units of housing in the Twin Cities metro area. With a keen focus on hospitality, our talented team is committed to delivering a resident experience like no other.


Role: The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the

company by managing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely financial records,

and assisting with the improvement and execution of cyclical operational tasks. This role

involves general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and

operational assistance, ensuring compliance with legal and fair housing standards.


Reporting: The Accounting Associate reports to the Controller


Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Essential Responsibilities:

General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Receivable :

  • Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments via check, wire,
  • or NACHA files.
  • Manage vendor setup, contact, and gather W-9 documentation, lien waivers, and
  • prepare 1099s as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of all invoices and payment receipts.
  • Reconcile credit card statements monthly, including receipt collection and coding.
  • Generate monthly inter-company invoices for shared building expenses for 3rd party
  • assets.
  • Process bill-backs on a monthly basis.
  • Record accounts payable-related banking activity for all properties monthly.


Financial Reporting :

  • Review monthly financial statements and address any significant variances related to
  • missing accounts payable invoices or incorrect coding.
  • Support the accounting team during audits and tax preparation by providing necessary
  • documentation.
  • Work closely with the accounting team and other departments to address financial
  • queries.

Operational Assistance :

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.
  • Assist in automating processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financials.
  • Assist HR with payroll processing.

Qualifications :

  • 2- or 4-year degree in accounting is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting is preferred.
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable knowledge.
  • Proficient computer skills, with experience in Excel (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Experience in PMS systems preferred (Entrata, Yardi, and Realpage).
  • Knowledge of Real Estate Accounting Principles (GAAP as it applies to real estate
  • nuances) preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong time-management skills with the ability to regularly shift priorities
  • as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills for regular coordination with site and
  • corporate staff.
