Job description

Job Title: Senior Associate, Accounting Operations (Cost & Inventory)
Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical, collaborative, and detail-oriented Senior Associate, Accounting Operations to support our global financial operations and product cost accounting practice. In this role, you will be responsible for product costing, inventory accounting, standard cost maintenance, and multi-entity reporting across internal operations and third-party manufacturing partners (CMOs).
This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role bridging accounting operations with Supply Chain, FP&A, Technical Accounting, and Systems teams. You will play a vital role in ensuring complete and accurate financial reporting, supporting new product launches and manufacturing transfers, driving ERP automation, and maintaining a robust SOX control environment. If you excel in cost accounting within a fast-paced manufacturing or life sciences environment, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Product Costing & Inventory Accounting
โ€ข Standard Costing: Execute standard cost rollup processes, including component cost updates, overhead rate calculations, bill of materials (BOM) reviews, and routing/subcontracting maintenance.
โ€ข Valuation & Analysis: Maintain and analyze standard costs, inventory variance discrepancies, purchase price variances (PPV), and inventory valuation reserves (impairment/obsolescence).
โ€ข Commercialization Support: Support new product launches, manufacturing transfers, and inventory workflow setups as operational footprint expands.
Financial Close & Reporting
โ€ข Period-End Close: Partner with Supply Chain and FP&A to execute monthly, quarterly, and annual period-end close tasks, manual journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
โ€ข Multi-Entity Reporting: Ensure complete and accurate financial reporting and inventory tracking across multiple legal entities and contract manufacturing organizations.
SOX Compliance & Process Optimization
โ€ข Internal Controls: Maintain operating effectiveness of internal controls and prepare audit-ready documentation in compliance with SOX policies and procedures.
โ€ข ERP & Automation: Contribute to accelerated close initiatives, ERP enhancements (SAP), reporting automation, and continuous improvement of inventory control processes.
โ€ข Operational Continuity: Support ad-hoc accounting operations projects and cross-functional initiatives across trade AR and global operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
โ€ข Experience Baseline: Minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience within a multi-national, publicly traded manufacturing or life sciences organization.
โ€ข Technical Mastery:
oStrong working knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, standard costing, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
oProven experience managing period-end close deliverables and balance sheet account reconciliations.
oHigh proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation tools.
โ€ข Core Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional business partnering skills; ability to multi-task and reprioritize deliverables in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Attributes
โ€ข CPA license or MBA degree strongly preferred.
โ€ข Direct hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and modern financial close management software (e.g., BlackLine).
โ€ข Interest and proficiency in utilizing modern accounting technologies, Business Intelligence (BI) reporting, and AI-driven efficiency tools.
