Job description

Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager oversees the financial operations of Children's Attention Home, ensuring accurate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting support, payroll coordination, grant tracking, and compliance with nonprofit financial requirements. This leadership role supervises the Bookkeeper and works closely with organizational leadership, auditors, funders, and vendors to support sound financial stewardship and organizational effectiveness. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger oversight. 
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the annual budget process, monitor expenditures, and maintain financial projections.
  • Track grants, contracts, and restricted funding to ensure compliance with donor and funding requirements.
  • Coordinate audit preparation, maintain financial controls, oversee purchasing and fixed assets, and supervise the Bookkeeper. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, plus at least three years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial compliance, and nonprofit accounting practices.
  • Experience with grant tracking, payroll/HCM systems, budgeting, and financial reporting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial management software. 
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Mandatory attendance at a 4-day, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. training program on the Home's trauma-informed care model within 6 months of hire.
