Accounting Manager - Position Overview
  • The Accounting Manager provides support to management and the overall operations of the programs within the organization.
  • Performs advanced accounting functions in the management of the organization's business affairs. Ensures organization accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • The Accounting Manager assists management in understanding its business and identifies future opportunities through financial reporting, special projects and forecasting.
  • This position will provide direct supervision for Accounts Payable Department and Accounts Receivable Department.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and solving problems.
  • Coordinate along with the Director of Accounting audits and pull together the needed documentation to verify compliance with rules regarding all expenditures, purchases and capital equipment records.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day activity of accounting functions which includes reviewing account balances, reconciling accounts and the preparation adjusting entries to close the books for monthly reporting in conjunction with the Director of Accounting.
  • Assist in the monitoring of monthly expenses of programs, communicating results and identifying opportunities/risks to Director of Accounting.
  • Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing).
  • Assures internal control compliance.
  • Randomly audits workflow to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately authorized.
  • Monitors the compliance for Medicaid Billing; coordinating with the Director of Business Performance.
  • Supervision of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (3).
  • Perform backup function to department accountants to ensure essential jobs are covered during absences.
  • Prepare or assist in providing information for periodic reports to comply with grant requirements.
  • Responsible for demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural/socioeconomic differences in the organization/program service population.
  • Works on special projects, as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field), and (5) years related experience required. Master's degree (in related field) preferred.
  • Must possess solid analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • This position will require good judgment and a high level of initiative and autonomy.
  • Must possess excellent communications, good computer skills and a strong knowledge of financial software as required.
  • Must be willing to use personal vehicle for organizational travel.
