Job description

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Starting Salary: Up to $95,000

Location: Lansing, Hybrid


Job Summary:

We are partnering with one of our Lansing based clients on their recruiting efforts for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support the financial health of our organization. The Accounting Manager will report to the CFO and will be responsible for managing the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who's looking for that next step in their career or an accounting manager who's looking to make change.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
  • Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate external audits and support tax preparation activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with leadership and other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.

• Strong background managing month-end close processes in a fast-paced environment.

• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting practices.

• Proven ability to complete account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
