Position Title

Assistant Accounting Manager

Reports To

Controller

Position Summary

The Assistant Accounting Manager supports the daily operations of the accounting department and assists with financial reporting, month-end closing, account reconciliations, compliance, and internal controls. This position helps ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and adherence to company policies and accounting standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Accounting

  • Assist with month-end (Bank Reconciliation etc.) and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with balance sheet and income statement reviews.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Oversee AP and AR processes to ensure timely processing and collections.
  • Review vendor payments, customer credits, and account adjustments.
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collection efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with company credit policies.
  • Oversee Intercompany Transaction processes to ensure timely and accurately processing.

Payroll & Benefits

  • Assist with payroll review and reconciliation.
  • Ensure payroll-related journal entries are accurately recorded.
  • Support benefit administration and related accounting activities.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Help maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company internal controls.
  • Assist with external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Team Support

  • Supervise and train accounting staff as assigned.
  • Provide backup support for accounting functions.
  • Assist the Controller with financial reporting, special projects and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Experience

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) preferred.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, retail, or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
