Founded in Birmingham, AL in 1991, BMSS has grown to seven thriving locations across Alabama and Mississippi where we're proud to serve a growing client base with local heart and national reach. This role will be based out of our Ridgeland, MS office location.

We're known for our family-friendly culture, commitment to mentorship and life-work balance, and deep roots in the communities we serve. In fact, Accounting Today has recognized us as one of the best accounting firms to work for the last 14 years in a row. Whether it's volunteering locally or mentoring the next generation of CPAs, we show up-with expertise, empathy, and heart.

The Opportunity:

We're actively seeking a Tax Senior Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career. You'll lead diverse tax engagements, develop and grow client relationships, and mentor our rising professionals-all while contributing to the strategic growth of our firm.

If you're an experienced CPA with a passion for people, leadership, and high-impact work-and you want to grow where you live-this is your perfect next move.

What You'll Do:

  • Review complex tax returns (corporate, individual, partnership)
  • Lead tax planning, consulting, and compliance across a broad client base
  • Research and resolve technical tax matters, especially in multi-state contexts
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships built on trust and proactivity
  • Mentor and lead team members, promoting a collaborative learning culture
  • Contribute to strategic firm initiatives and business development
  • Be a key part of the leadership team driving the success of BMSS

What We're Looking For:

  • CPA license (active and in good standing in the state of MS) - Required
  • 10+ years of recent experience in public accounting (tax-focused)
  • Experience leading client engagements and managing staff
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Located within the Birmingham, AL area, or open to relocation
  • A desire to grow into a Partner/Member role in a supportive and well-established firm

Why Join BMSS:

  • Meaningful work with exposure to a variety of industries-not siloed or segmented
  • Deeply rooted in our local communities-we care where we live and work
  • Family-first environment with flexible scheduling
  • Supportive, team-oriented culture that values mentorship and professional growth

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary + lucrative bonus structure
  • Company-paid Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with match
  • Generous PTO, paid volunteer days, and paid holidays
  • Relocation assistance a possibility
  • Ongoing training, CPE, and leadership development
  • A career with purpose, growth, and people who care
