Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager will provide day-to-day supervision and support to members of the accounting team. Responsibilities may include training employees, assigning and reviewing work, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and assisting with the resolution of questions or issues. The position will help foster a professional, collaborative, and accountable accounting environment.

Requirements

The Accounting Manager will help coordinate the month-end close process, including preparation and review of account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules. The position will monitor the close process, identify outstanding items, and work with accounting team members and other departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.

The Accounting Manager will also assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports, providing supporting analysis and identifying unusual or significant variances for review by the Controller.

This position will be involved in improving accounting processes, procedures, and systems. Responsibilities may include assisting with the implementation of new accounting software and improving the use of existing systems and reporting tools, including DOMO (Business Intelligence tool). The Accounting Manager will work with the Controller and other departments to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, automation, and internal controls.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong understanding of MCT Companies' accounting processes, systems, and operations and progressively take on additional responsibilities as their knowledge and experience grow.

  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
  • Review account activity for accuracy and completeness and communicate significant issues to the Controller.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support implementation of new accounting software, reporting tools, and other technology initiatives.
  • Help maximize the effectiveness of existing systems, including DOMO and other financial reporting tools.
  • Work with operational departments to resolve accounting issues and improve the flow of financial information.
  • Assist with audit requests and preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and supervision to accounting team members.
  • Assign and review work to ensure accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and timely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and accuracy within the accounting function.
  • Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as assigned by the Controller.
