About the Role

Koopman Lumber is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting & Bookkeeping Specialist to join our finance team.

This position plays a key role in supporting the company's accounting operations through accounts payable management, reconciliations, financial reporting support, tax filings, and general bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

What You'll Do

Process accounts payable and maintain vendor records
Complete credit applications, W-9 forms, and tax exemption certificates
Prepare and process annual 1099 filings
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting
Prepare and file sales tax returns and related documentation
Maintain insurance policies, certificates of insurance, and related records
Manage tenant accounts, including Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges and billing activities
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Support additional accounting and administrative projects as assigned

Requirements

What You Bring

Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Professional communication and problem-solving abilities
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic


Preferred Qualifications

QuickBooks experience
Great Plains experience
BNA Fixed Asset software experience
Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field


Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
Occasional lifting of files, documents, and office materials up to 25 pounds
Ability to work in a professional office environment
