Accounting Specialist

Classification: Exempt                                                            Reports to: Accounting Manager

 
 

Your Impact

We are seeking a detail oriented and proactive accounting professional to support our finance team across accounts receivable, general ledger, and tax functions. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, managing customer accounts, and ensuring compliance with state and local tax requirements.

A Glimpse of What You’ll Do

  • Reconcile monthly reporting and process related payments accurately and on time
  • Process vendor credit applications
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules and spreadsheets
  • Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Process sales and use tax registrations across various jurisdictions
  • Research and resolve tax notices from state and local authorities
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account analysis
  • Process payroll in the general ledger and record related labor journal entries
  • Support customer onboarding, including account verification and establishing credit limits
  • Manage collections on past due accounts and follow up to ensure timely payment
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes
  • Knowledge of financial management principles and accounting best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Sage Intaact and Avalara AvaTax is a plus
  • Knowledge of Work in Progress and Percentage of Completion accounting is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel

Additional Information

  • Full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, little to no travel is expected for this position
  • Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds
