Project Accountant I
Department: Administrative
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Katy, TX
Description
The Project Accountant I will be responsible for routine accounting tasks pertaining to their assigned project. Tasks include collecting, computing, classifying, recording, and verifying material billing data used for customer billing and maintaining project-related records. The Project Accountant I will assist the Project Accountant II's with their day-to-day deliverables. This person must be detailed oriented, have the ability to use sound judgement in making decisions, and have a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP) This position will require traveling to different job sites
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Accountant II with maintaining project related records
  • Report the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts to the Project Accountant II
  • Review labor hours for work related to a project and communicate discrepancies to management
  • Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
  • Assist with the assessment of project variances
  • Monitor cash flow practices by auditing and sending reports promptly
  • Assess project profitability and report findings to management
  • Report to management on opportunities for additional billings or cost savings
  • Create project related billings to customers
  • Assist with project close outs
  • Respond to customer inquiries
  • Travel as needed

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • At least 1 year of relative accounting experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • High School diploma required, Associate degree preferred
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP)
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Can use sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to remain focus when working on day-to-day activities
