About the Role
The Accounting Manager will lead and oversee the General Accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient close processes. This Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity while driving continuous improvement across accounting operations. The ideal Accounting Manager brings a combination of technical expertise, leadership experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and support budgeting and forecasting
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Audit financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain financial models, reconciliations, and reports (Excel-based)
  • Support audits, cash flow analysis, tax work, and special projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, IT, Sales, and Operations

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members
  • Assign, review, and evaluate work to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions
  • Support employee development through coaching and goal setting
  • Address performance and employee relations matters

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred
  • Experience in a service-based organization or public accounting
  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Experience with Great Plains or similar ERP/accounting systems
