About the role:
Reports to the Head of Fund Services, US
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous evolution by shaping strategy, and translating the strategic vision into operational plans. This will be achieved through impactful leadership, building diverse teams that are focused, collaborative and outcome driven, as well as developing and sponsoring the next generation of talent. You will support business and people growth, driving effective collaboration to enable Aztec's ambition.
You will be required to manage client relationships through effectively leading dedicated client teams to deliver a superior standard of service in the marketplace.
Key responsibilities:
  • Accounting: Senior accounting leader responsible for all technical accounting aspects for a portfolio of fund structures (primarily Private Equity and Fund of Funds).
  • Standards & Best Practice Execution: Implement frameworks and standards developed by the Financial and Regulatory Reporting CoEs and ensure compliance across delivery teams.
  • Leadership: lead and scale a team of technical accountants across all aspects of Fund & SPV accounting.
  • Manage the on-going training and development requirements of team members as well as the health, growth and cohesiveness of the team itself.
  • Client Service Ownership: Own the operational delivery of core fund account and administration services for assigned clients, ensuring standards, timelines, and quality metrics are consistently met.
  • Client Engagement: Act as the key operational contact for clients, handling day-to-day communications and issue resolution to maintain strong, proactive relationships while mitigating operational and reputational risks to Aztec Group.
  • Act as authority on day to day queries and as "B" level 4-eyes signatory on accounting administration matters, ensuring that company policy and professional and regulatory guidelines are adhered to and that a professional quality service is provided to clients and outside contacts.
  • Liaise with professional advisors and intermediaries during investment transaction and in relation to general market happenings and operating matters.
  • Delivery Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, manage, and resolve delivery risks and issues, escalating when necessary and maintaining client confidence.
  • Review service provided and requested scope changes across teams to ensure that appropriate billing opportunities are identified, and appropriate action taken.
  • Account Development (where applicable): where an account does not have an assigned CRL, proactively manage the commercial relationship between Aztec and the client.
  • Business Development: Assist with proposals, pitches and presentations in conjunction with the US Leadership team and the business development team and participate in new client proposals/pitches as necessary.
  • Participate in the development of detailed client pricing and potentially in related negotiations.

Skills, knowledge, expertise:
  • Considerable practical experience in building teams and scaling with business growth
  • Sound technical financial services and accounting knowledge
  • Experience with Yardi and/or Investran is highly preferred
  • Evidence of holding responsibility for a major client relationship(s)
  • Focus on team member growth, i.e. what training could and should be provided to and completed by members of the team - leverage and expand the coverage of the Aztec Academy where possible

Qualifications:
  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Experience as or at either or both of the below is required:
  • Controller, or senior accountant at a fund; preferably at a Private Equity or FoF focused fund
  • CPA certified during career or MBA in relevant field, preferred
