SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) licensed Psychologist with specialty training in pediatric/child and adolescent psychology who is committed to improving health equity for patients and families from diverse backgrounds. The position will be located on our main hospital campus in downtown Minneapolis, as part of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (CAPS) Clinic.

The CAPS Psychology team provides outpatient psychotherapy and assessment services, inpatient consultation/liaison services to our pediatric medical inpatients (PICU, Pediatrics, Burn), and ongoing supervision and training of Psychology trainees, including in our longstanding APA accredited Psychology Internship Program. Exact distribution of clinical activities (outpatient therapy, assessment, consultation) is negotiable based on psychologist interests and CAPS Clinic needs. Development of focused clinical interests in specialty patient populations or treatment modalities is also possible as a compliment to broader clinical duties.

As a Level 1 Trauma Center and urban safety net hospital, Hennepin County Medical Center provides a dynamic multidisciplinary setting for professional practice, in the context of a well-established Psychology Division, within a vibrant Psychiatry Department. Providers identifying as from diverse backgrounds or historically under-resourced communities are especially encouraged to apply. Bilingual/bicultural skills are strongly desirable. Early career applicants are also welcome.

  • Provide mental health therapy (e.g. individual, group, and/or family therapy) to children, adolescents, families, and hospital patients
  • Record patient progress notes and attendance
  • Based on records, interviews, behavioral observations, and psychological test results, write comprehensive psychological reports of clients' diagnosis and treatment recommendations
  • Provide consultation on diagnosis, treatment, and other psychological issues to mental health professionals, government agencies, community organization, and/or schools
  • Supervise and train Psychology trainees (interns, fellows), entry-level clinical psychologists, graduate students, and/ or resident physicians
  • Review and sign off on diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes compiled by non-licensed psychologists and graduate students
  • Assist in maintaining standards for clinic accreditation by health management organizations, internship program accreditation by the American Psychological Association, and state licensure
  • Complete necessary documentation to bill health management organizations and other payers for client services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology Obtained from an APA or CPA-accredited program

  • Complete at least one full year or the equivalent in part time of internship (2000 hours)

  • Training appropriate to the area of specialization
  • If licensed in another jurisdiction, have no unresolved disciplinary action or complaints pending
