Job description

Job Title: Staff Accountant

MW Logistics is currently positioning itself for growth. We are currently seeking individuals for the position of Account Manager to join our team.

The Staff Accountant performs daily routines related to accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger in addition to preparation of various accounting statements and reports.

Responsibilities:

• Post Daily bank transactions.

• Post Daily A/R related cash receipts applications.

• Daily Credit Card coding, processing, and reconciliation.

• Daily, weekly, and monthly bank reporting.

• Process weekly check runs.

• Month end entries.

• Balance sheet accounts reconciliations and posting of related entries.

• Pro-actively researches and resolves issues with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.

• Assist with preparing after month end management reports.

• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

• Must have a good understanding of GAAP.

• Analyzes information by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.

• Fast learner and ability to work in fast-pasted environment.

• (V-lookups, Pivot tables).

• Work collaboratively with team members and vendor contacts to follow up on vendor billing details and discrepancies completes other projects/responsibilities as assigned

• Special projects as needed.


Professional Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 3 years minimum experience.

• Experience in the transportation/logistics (trucking) industry.

• Billing and collection experience is a HUGE plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel and Word) with an emphasis on excel (knows v-lookups/Pivot tables)

• Working knowledge of McCleod Software– preferred

• Excellent Communication (written and verbal) skills with emphasis on professional phone and email etiquette.

• Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail

• High customer service orientation.

• Ability to work in a team environment and with confidential data.

• Possess a sense of urgency, flexibility, and assertiveness.

• Ability to multi-task, plan/prioritize and execute in a timely manner.

• Demonstrates professionalism, critical thinking and judgment to solve problems efficiently/effectively.

• Analytical, detail oriented and self-motivated

Office:

Hours: In-office, 8:00am – 5:00 pm. A one-hour lunch between 11:00 am – 1:00pm as scheduled by department leadership to ensure ongoing coverage. As a 24/7/365 operation, must be available to work after hours, weekend and holiday hours as needed to meet work demands.

Reports to: Assistant Controller

Physical requirements: Sedentary - Involves lifting articles weighing no more than 10 pounds at a time or occasionally lifting or carrying articles such as docket files, ledgers, or small tools; and despite involving sitting on a regular basis, may require walking or standing on an occasional basis.
