Job description

Title: Cost Accountant

Location: Morristown, TN

Summary

We’re looking for a hands-on Cost Accountant to support a manufacturing plant with full ownership of cost accounting, inventory, and ERP processes. This is not a sit-back reporting role, this person will be in the details, partnering with operations, and driving real cost improvements. This role has strong visibility to plant leadership and is ideal for someone who wants to own their lane and influence how the business runs.


Responsibilities

  • Own standard costing, cost rolls, and variance analysis (labor, overhead, yield)
  • Lead month-end close for cost + inventory within ERP
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, movements, and adjustments
  • Analyze profitability, absorption, and plant performance metrics
  • Maintain standard costs, overhead rates, and LIFO calculations
  • Act as ERP (OCHMS) business process owner for cost + inventory modules
  • Support lot traceability and manufacturing reporting processes
  • Partner with operations to identify cost savings opportunities
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and physical inventory
  • Ensure strong internal controls and audit readiness


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related
  • 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Standard costing
  • Variance analysis
  • Inventory accounting
  • Hands-on ERP experience (manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Experience supporting month-end close
  • Exposure to internal controls / audit processes
  • Nice to have: CPA or CMA (or working toward it)
