Sr. GL Accountant
Location: Leesburg, VA

As a Sr. GL Accountant in our Finance function supporting the Spine Division, you'll take ownership of key general ledger activities, financial reporting, and controls for U.S. operations-ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insightful financial information in a dynamic, high-stakes medical device environment.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage all general ledger sub-ledger accounts, perform detailed account reconciliations, and ensure accuracy and completeness of the GL
  • Lead and participate in the full month-end and year-end financial closing process, including preparing and posting journal entries for accruals, deferrals, allocations, and adjustments
  • Contribute to and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure U.S.-based expenditures are properly identified, tracked, reported, and analyzed in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and corporate standards
  • Prepare and submit actual results reporting to Corporate via Hyperion (or similar systems)
  • Oversee the capital appropriation process, manage the fixed asset system, and handle related accounting
  • Document, maintain, and strengthen internal control policies and procedures to support an effective control environment
  • Prepare monthly projections, annual budgets, and forecasts for select P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow items
  • Analyze complex accounting issues, provide business-oriented insights, and resolve variances or discrepancies
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams and act as a customer-focused partner to internal stakeholders
  • Support audit readiness, financial reporting integrity, and ad hoc analysis as needed

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required); CPA and/or Master's Degree in Business Administration or Finance preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with strong focus on general ledger management
  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle month-end and year-end financial closing and reporting processes
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and proven ability to establish/maintain effective internal controls
  • Strong analytical skills with a business perspective and ability to interpret financial data for decision-making
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing, sales, and inventory-based company (medical device, healthcare, or similar preferred)
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles/procedures
  • Proficiency with integrated financial systems (e.g., Oracle or similar ERP), Hyperion, Cognos, and advanced MS Office skills (especially Excel)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
