Job description

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Commercial Accounting Team.

This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with company policies and management agreements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports as required by ownership and management.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for material fluctuations.
  • Code and review invoices for accounts payable processing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable management agreements and internal controls.
  • Maintain, review, and interpret lease files and related documentation.
  • Complete CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and Real Estate Tax (RET) reconciliations, as applicable.
  • Prepare year-end tax workpapers.
  • Assist with property acquisitions and dispositions, including financial onboarding/offboarding.
  • Collaborate effectively with property management and accounting teams.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager, Controller, or CFO.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of real estate accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi or comparable property management/accounting software preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
