Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Senior Accountant position for a growing green energy company in Reno. This position is a key role with upward mobility available within the first 6-12 months for a strong and motivated candidate.
This position will report to the Controller and perform a wide variety of accounting functions including preparing financial statements and reports, performing and auditing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and consolidating financial information between parent and subsidiary organizations. The position also coordinates with finance and operations to update forecasts and budgets and communicates monthly results with subsidiary organizations.
Responsibilities
•Process vendor invoices, review expense reports, and reconcile vendor accounts to ensure accurate and timely payments.
•Perform journal entries, accruals, amortization / accretion schedules, and related accounting functions.
•Provide and organize supporting documentation for journal entries and financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
•Assist with monthly intercompany consolidation of financial information between parent and subsidiaries and general ledger and bank reconciliations.
•Use technology, including Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, to improve workflows, automate processes, and strengthen reporting capabilities.
•Contribute to the development of new and amended accounting systems, programs and procedures.
•Assist with annual audit preparations and interact effectively with auditors.
•Help maintain the general ledger account structure to fit into reporting systems and information reporting needs.
•Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity and month-end close.
• Demonstrated background in journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.
• Working knowledge of financial reporting practices and accounting principles relevant to corporate accounting environments.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, prepare schedules, and support reporting needs.
• Experience using NetSuite or another large-scale ERP system such as Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance, operations, and subsidiary teams.
