Seeking a Project Accountant / Controller to oversee the financial performance of projects from kickoff through closeout. This role is responsible for project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting, while supporting administrative and financial processes to ensure projects remain organized and predictable.

The Project Accountant works closely with Project Managers, Operations, Production, and Corporate Finance to maintain financial visibility and disciplined financial management across projects.

Responsible for coordinating project planning, delivery, and contract execution related to administrative functions.


Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with customers, contractors, and internal teams to obtain and issue site investigations, engineering plans, building approvals, and occupancy certificates

  • Transmit and upload documentation required for manufacturing approvals, site mobilization, and progress plans (drawings, designs, project plans, subcontractor approvals, etc.)

  • Compile and submit documentation to meet contract milestones, including bank guarantees, insurance documents, progress reports, and notices

  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, including preparing purchase orders, verifying insurance, setting up supplier accounts, and sharing project scope/site plans

  • Monitor and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices; reconcile invoices against purchase orders and track accordingly

  • Collaborate with Accounting to create vendor records and perform data entry for project bids and expenses

  • Support collections by liaising with clients and Accounts Receivable; manage inquiries, disputes, and aged receivables (60/90 days)

  • Manage financial processes including purchase orders, change orders, commitments, and vendor costs

  • Assist Business Development Manager with quote and tender submission packages

  • Perform financial tracking and cost control, including invoice approvals, reconciliation, and updating cost trackers and PO registers

  • Handle invoicing by preparing internal and client-facing documentation such as project claims

  • Support Accounts Payable processes including vendor setup, batch processing, and expense tracking

  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and contractors to resolve non-conformances

  • Communicate effectively across teams, adapting messaging to audience needs

  • Provide general administrative support to Contracts Administrator

  • Help establish consistent financial processes across projects

  • Ensure adherence to budgets, approvals, and financial procedures

  • Continuously improve financial reporting tools and workflows

  • Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role


Required Qualifications / Education / Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction project accounting, project controls, or financial administration

  • Strong understanding of construction project financials

  • Strong customer service skills with ability to interact with construction/site managers

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities

  • Strong problem-solving, investigative, and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to quickly learn systems, software, and processes

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office / Windows applications

  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to build credibility and maintain professional relationships internally and externally

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic
