This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment.ย 

Schedule - Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:30pmย 

Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Finance Assistant - Accounts Payable Administrator works closely with the Finance Manager and supports all aspects of the accounts payable process, including vendor and invoice management, check preparation, cash handling/banking, and general accounting duties.ย 


Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or financial field preferred.ย 
  • Two or more years' experience in accounts payable/banking and cash handling functions required.
  • Attention to detail - high accuracy in data entry and numerical analysis.ย 
  • Strong professional communication with vendors, internal teams, and external partners.ย 
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems (ERP experience preferred).
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
  • Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities and other duties as assigned.ย 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Skills

  • Invoice Processing - Review, code and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system, ensure accurate general ledger coding and appropriate approval.ย 
  • Payment Execution - Prepare and process checks, ACH Payments, and wire transfers, managing the payment schedule to avoid late fees.ย 
  • Vendor account reconciliation - Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve outstanding payment issues.ย 
  • Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data entry).ย 
  • Expense Management - process and verify employee charge card expenses.ย 
  • Compliance - Assist with annual audit requirements.ย 
  • Identify and communicate best practices for storing and filing payment records.ย 
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management - ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and proactively solve problems.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Solid proficiency with various technologies and willingness to continually learn.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar accounting software preferred.
