Position: Sales Intern
Department: Sales Department-Common Alloy
Location: Orlando, FL-on-site, 20-25 hours per week
Sales Intern Position Summary
AA Metals is seeking a motivated and outgoing Sales Intern to join our Common Alloy Sales team. This internship provides hands-on experience in business-to-business sales within the aluminum and metals industry, with a strong focus on customer development, prospecting, and account reactivation.
The Sales Intern will work alongside experienced Account Managers while also developing their own pipeline of sales opportunities. A primary focus of the role will be contacting and visiting dormant customers, identifying new prospective customers, strengthening existing customer relationships, and uncovering opportunities to maximize AA Metals' sales potential.
This is an active sales internship designed for someone who is comfortable communicating with customers, building relationships, and learning how to develop business from initial prospecting through the sales process.
Sales Intern Key Responsibilities
  • Contact dormant and inactive customers to reestablish relationships, understand current purchasing needs, and identify opportunities to regain business.
  • Schedule and participate in customer visits, including visits to dormant, existing, and prospective customers.
  • Conduct outbound calls and emails to existing customers to identify additional sales opportunities and maximize account potential.
  • Prospect and hunt for new customers within targeted markets and territories.
  • Research prospective companies, industries, and purchasing contacts to develop qualified sales leads.
  • Introduce prospective customers to AA Metals' Common Alloy products, capabilities, and services.
  • Identify customer needs and communicate potential opportunities to the appropriate Account Manager.
  • Assist Account Managers with customer outreach, follow-up, quoting activities, sales research, and other account-related responsibilities as requested.
  • Follow up on leads, quotes, customer inquiries, and potential sales opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, prospecting activities, opportunities, and follow-up actions within the Company's CRM or other sales systems.
  • Work with the sales team to identify opportunities to increase customer penetration and maximize revenue from existing accounts.
  • Learn AA Metals' Common Alloy products, specifications, applications, pricing considerations, and overall sales process.
  • Participate in sales meetings, customer discussions, and other departmental activities.
  • Provide regular updates regarding prospecting activity, dormant-account outreach, customer visits, leads generated, and sales opportunities identified.
  • Perform other sales-related duties and projects as assigned.

Sales Intern Qualifications/Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with prospective customers.
  • Confident, professional, and comfortable interacting with customers in person.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with an interest in sales, business development, and customer acquisition.
  • Ability to research prospective customers and identify potential business opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems is a plus.
