What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an account development associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Account Development Associate, you need strong communication, lead generation, and sales prospecting skills, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce and proficiency in using sales automation and lead-tracking tools are essential. Outstanding interpersonal skills, resilience, and a proactive attitude help you build relationships and overcome objections. These skills and qualities are crucial for consistently generating qualified leads and contributing to the success of the sales team.

What is an account development associate?

An Account Development Associate is a sales professional responsible for identifying and qualifying potential business opportunities and leads for their company. They typically work closely with the sales and marketing teams to research prospects, initiate contact, and nurture relationships to create qualified sales opportunities. Their goal is to help drive revenue growth by building a strong pipeline of potential clients for account executives or sales managers to pursue. This role often involves a mix of phone outreach, email communication, and use of CRM tools to track interactions and progress.

As an Account Development Associate, you play a crucial role in bridging the gap between sales and marketing teams. You'll often work closely with marketing to understand current campaigns and leverage qualified leads, while partnering with sales to ensure a smooth handoff of prospects and provide feedback on lead quality. Regular communication, attending team meetings, and using shared CRM tools are common practices to align goals and strategies. This collaboration helps drive consistent messaging and increases the chances of converting leads into long-term clients.

Are account development associate positions entry-level?

Account Development Associate positions are often entry-level roles that typically require strong communication skills, basic sales or customer service experience, and a willingness to learn. $50,000 Base Plus Uncapped Commission (target $24k+ in commissions)

$74k+ (base plus commissions)

United Site Services is the industry leader in comprehensive site services, committed to creating partnerships that help enable our customers’ project and event success. Our deep industry expertise, excellence in process management, and dedication to corporate responsibility are pillars of our value proposition; each supported by tangible, best-practice programs.

Our success is fueled by the dedication and collaboration of our diverse team, which includes field technicians, customer care representatives, sales professionals, and functional experts. Each member of our team plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless and reliable experience for our customers.

By joining United Site Services, you will be part of an organization that values continuous improvement, teamwork, and excellence in every aspect of our business.

Overview:

If you thrive on hitting goals, building strong client relationships, and being rewarded for results, this is your role. Responsibilities:
  • Own and manage a defined portfolio of existing business, driving retention, expansion, and profitability.
  • Identify and capture new revenue opportunities within existing accounts through cross-sell and upsell initiatives (portable restrooms, trailers, roll-offs, fencing, and more).
  • Prospect and develop new business in target verticals, including construction, industrial, and municipal markets.
  • Engage decision-makers regularly through calls, emails, and virtual meetings to strengthen relationships and grow share of wallet.
  • Deliver quotes, pricing updates, and proposals aligned with revenue and margin targets.
  • Maintain an accurate and disciplined pipeline using Salesforce CRM, ensuring transparency and accountability in forecasting.
  • Collaborate with field operations and customer care to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends to anticipate customer needs and position USS effectively.
