Job description

Role Summary

The Associate Account Manager will be responsible for analyzing and building client accounts, maintaining strong relationships with clients, and ensuring client satisfaction. Support the development of category strategies and identifying new business opportunities while collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement those strategies. This role requires a strong background in private label brand development, data-driven decision-making, and end-to-end product commercialization. The Account Manager will leverage consumer, shopper, and financial data—preferably using Scintilla Charter and Walmart data platforms—to develop winning assortments, own product development, and deliver profitable growth while building trusted buyer-level relationships.

Role Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day communication with retail merchants and their cross-functional teams (product development, planners, replenishment, etc.)
  • Build and maintain strong buyer-level relationships while facilitating collaboration across internal functions
  • Create, drive, and successfully execute merchandising and category strategies aligned to customer and shopper needs
  • Develop commercially viable, data-driven new products, with a strong emphasis on private label brands
  • Partner closely with overseas sourcing teams to translate insights into high-value, well-packaged products that meet customer expectations
  • Utilize data and insights (consumer, shopper, financial, and market trends) to guide product development, assortment decisions, pricing, and promotions
  • Leverage analytics platforms (including Scintilla Charter, industry data, and internal systems) to identify opportunities, validate strategies, and measure performance
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales materials, including product samples, PowerPoint presentations, and detailed item and costing information
  • Clearly communicate buyer expectations for product execution, modular placement, key merchandising timelines, and promotional activity in writing
  • Execute consumer- and shopper-driven strategies to maximize market share, sales, and profitability
  • Deliver sales, margin, and profitability targets for assigned categories
  • Develop and execute Customer & Category Strategic Development plans and annual operating plans
  • Negotiate and manage EDLC costing to drive mutual value, enforce trade terms, and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal and customer sourcing and development teams on strategic diversification opportunities
  • Partner with Demand Planning to develop accurate sales forecasts and achieve forecast accuracy targets
  • Provide strong analytical, storytelling, and presentation support to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Proven experience creating, driving, and executing merchandising strategies successfully

  • 1 year strong experience working on and with private label brands, including product development and lifecycle management

  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to create strategy, product development, and execution

  • Experience utilizing Scintilla Charter to build merchandising, pricing, and product strategies is strongly preferred

  • 3 years direct sales experience with Walmart is required

  • Strong customer relationship management and negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational aptitude and high desire to deliver best in class results in all aspects of their work

  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into clear actions and recommendations

  • Experience in account management, category management, or a similar role within retail or ecommerce
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Very comfortable and experienced in utilizing Microsoft Suite tools (Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
