About This Role

The Rimon Preschool at Sherith Israel is seeking caring, dependable, and energetic Substitute Teachers to join our team. Substitute Teachers provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old while supporting classroom routines and maintaining compliance with Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing requirements. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young children, especially infants and toddlers! There is potential for this role to develop into a full-time teaching position.


What You'll Do
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with classroom activities, learning experiences, and daily routines.
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Maintain appropriate teacher-child interactions and positive guidance practices.
  • Follow classroom schedules for meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, rest time, and outdoor play.
  • Ensure classrooms remain clean, organized, and sanitary.
  • Follow all Tennessee DHS health and safety regulations.
  • Report accidents, incidents, injuries, or concerns to the Director immediately.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and other staff members.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and classroom cleanup duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to pass all Tennessee DHS background check requirements.
  • Must complete all required Tennessee DHS pre-service training and orientation requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience working with young children is preferred but not required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Nice To Haves
  • Experience with infants and toddlers.
  • Interest in working a small amount of hours on a weekly basis.
  • Familiarity with ProSolutions trainings and TNPAL.
