Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The PSR Support Worker provides a visible and supportive presence on the parish campus during Parish School of Religion (PSR) sessions. The primary purpose of this position is to enhance the safety, security, and well-being of students, families, volunteers, and staff while PSR programming is taking place.

The Support Worker helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment by monitoring the campus, assisting with student movement and supervision, identifying potential safety concerns, and promptly communicating concerns to the appropriate parish or PSR leadership.

As a member of the Catholic parish community, the Support Worker is expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the parish’s Catholic mission and values, demonstrating respect, kindness, responsibility, professionalism, and service to others.

Job Responsibilities
Campus Safety and Presence
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the parish campus during PSR sessions.
  • Monitor common areas, entrances, hallways, parking areas, and other designated areas for safety concerns.
  • Help ensure that students remain in designated areas and follow established parish and PSR safety procedures.
  • Monitor campus access and promptly report unfamiliar, unauthorized, or concerning activity to the appropriate parish staff.
  • Assist with maintaining secure entrances and following established building-access procedures.
  • Be attentive to potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or situations that may affect the safety of students, staff, volunteers, or visitors.
  • Respond appropriately to safety concerns and notify the appropriate parish leadership, emergency personnel, or law enforcement when necessary and in accordance with parish procedures.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, drills, evacuations, lockdowns, or other safety situations as directed and trained.
  • Support safe arrival, dismissal, and movement of students throughout the campus
Job Requirements
  • Provide a calm, positive, and reassuring presence for students.
  • Assist PSR staff and volunteers with student supervision when requested.
  • Help maintain appropriate behavior and orderly movement in common areas.
  • Address minor student concerns in a respectful and age-appropriate manner.
  • Immediately refer significant behavioral, medical, safety, or safeguarding concerns to the appropriate PSR or parish staff member.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with all children and youth.
  • Follow all parish and diocesan policies regarding child protection, youth safety, and appropriate
