Volunteer with Lakeshore Food Rescue

Lakeshore Food Rescue is a community-powered initiative of Community Action House, that aims to End Food Waste, Fight Hunger and Mobilize the Community. Our goal is to turn Excess Food into Food Access. We partner with food retailers, volunteer drivers and local non-profit partners to greatly reduce waste by making excess fresh, healthy food available to those who need it most.

Food Rescue Hero is a nationally-recognized technology platform and app that aims to address food insecurity and waste.

Through the Food Rescue Hero app, volunteers are notified when food rescue pick-ups are available. Volunteer as much or as little as you'd like, on your schedule. Or, sign up for a recurring route at the same time, same place each week. Our initial dispatch hours will be business hours Monday - Friday.
