Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Database Administrator to support a federal program based in Ashburn, VA . The Database Administrator will support the administration, development, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database systems and software applications. This position is onsite in Ashburn, VA, offers a compressed work schedule, and requires up to 25% travel. Responsibilities of the Database Administrator include: * Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Microsoft Access database environments * Install, configure, patch, monitor, tune, and troubleshoot enterprise database systems * Design, develop, test, and maintain web-based and Windows-based applications supporting bridge inspection and infrastructure management systems * Enhance and maintain the FLH Bridge Data Management Web System and internal FHWA intranet applications * Develop database applications supporting National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS), and federal transportation programs * Create and optimize stored procedures, triggers, packages, functions, and SQL queries to improve database performance * Perform database backups, recovery, data migrations, performance monitoring, and capacity planning * Develop reports and dashboards using Crystal Reports, Power BI, and GIS technologies while ensuring Section 508 compliance * Troubleshoot software, database, and application issues across development, testing, and production environments * Maintain database schemas, data models, documentation, and data dictionaries * Collaborate with developers and project teams to support application enhancements and database integrations * Participate in bridge inspection field visits to support data collection, quality assurance, and quality control activities * Ensure compliance with federal security, accessibility, and software development standards Qualifications of the Database Administrator include: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered * Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Microsoft Access databases * Experience developing applications using ASP.NET MVC, Classic ASP, VB.NET, Visual Studio, and Python * Strong understanding of relational database design, database administration, and object-oriented programming * Proficiency with HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, XML, JSON, and VBA/Macro programming * Experience installing, patching, tuning, monitoring, and maintaining databases on Windows Server environments * Strong SQL development experience including stored procedures, triggers, indexing, views, and query optimization * Experience performing database backup and recovery, replication, migration, and performance tuning * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
* Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of field inspection activities Preferred Qualifications: * Experience supporting NBIS, NTIS, SDMS, PONTIS, BrM, AssetWise, or similar transportation infrastructure systems * Experience developing reports using Crystal Reports and Microsoft Power BI * Experience with SharePoint development or GIS mapping technologies * Experience working in Agile software development environments * Experience supporting Department of Transportation (DOT), FHWA, or other federal infrastructure programs Compensation for the Database Administrator includes: * Salary: $90,000 - $100,000
