We Innovate: Cutting Edge Solutions to Accelerate the Unique Energy Aspirations of Our Clients.
We Connect: To Build Genuine Relationships.
We Deliver: Going Above & Beyond by Being Fast & Nimble.
We Lead: With Authenticity and Purpose.

Our Energetic Team:

Energy Vault Solution, a division within Energy Vault, is dedicated to delivering customer-focused energy storage products that merge Battery and Clean Hydrogen technologies. The Energy Vault Solution team also develops and manages our AI/ML powered software applications that include EMS, Lifecycle Management, and Energy Trading Platforms.

Your Impact as a Senior Energy Trading Manager:

Energy Vault is seeking a Senior Energy Trading Manager to lead the day-ahead and real-time energy and ancillary service offers of our utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) fleet in ERCOT and CAISO, with scope to expand into additional ISO/RTO markets as our Asset Vault portfolio grows. You will own the trading strategy for our assets — executing offers using Energy Vault’s internal software and forecasting tools, following QSE and Scheduling Coordinator operating procedures, and intervening with manual trading when market conditions call for it.

This is a senior role with broad influence across market analytics, optimization, product, and engineering, reporting to the Sr. Director of Data Science & Optimization. The successful candidate combines deep market expertise with strong analytical skills to make informed trading decisions, improve bidding strategies, and collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and asset operations teams to continuously enhance trading performance.

As a seasoned energy trader, you will utilize our internal software and oversee the Day-Ahead (DA) positions to allocate the energy storage capacity between the DA Energy, Real-Time (RT) Energy and Ancillary Service Markets, and monitor RT trades and dispatches.

Your Mission:
  • Establish frameworks and success metrics used to evaluate trading performance; monitor daily performance and risk metrics and communicate results transparently to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Participate in physical dispatch and optimization of BESS assets, executing energy and ancillary service offers in the day-ahead and real-time markets using Energy Vault’s internal software and forecasting tools.
  • Oversee day-ahead trading strategy, developing views of market fundamentals to guide the daily allocation of BESS capacity between the Day-Ahead Energy, Real-Time Energy, and Ancillary Service markets.
  • Act as the team’s subject-matter expert on wholesale electricity trading, market fundamentals, bidding strategy, and ISO protocols and operations.
  • Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and asset operations teams to evaluate and refine Energy Vault’s programmatic optimization and software development; translate analytical findings into product requirements and roadmap priorities.
  • Develop processes and frameworks to identify likely transmission constraints in day-ahead and real-time markets and incorporate those expectations to adjust optimization strategy appropriately.
  • Contribute to Energy Vault’s understanding of appropriate hedging activity to ensure adequate storage revenue over the long term of offtake agreements; potentially execute in futures and options markets for energy price volatility as opportunities arise.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and market design changes across relevant ISOs (e.g., ERCOT RTC+B, CAISO reforms); evaluate their commercial and operational implications and communicate proactively with internal teams.
Your Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, economics, finance, or another quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of power trading experience at a utility, IPP, trading firm, or energy trading software company. Experience in energy storage asset trading is preferred.
  • Deep expertise in ERCOT (including operating protocols and rules) with working knowledge across multiple markets.
  • Deep understanding of transmission topology, ISO LMP and ancillary service pricing, and power flow constraints.
  • Understanding of risk management and ability to maximize revenue subject to risk constraints.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting live market operations and time-sensitive trading decisions, including occasional evening or weekend coverage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex market dynamics to technical teams, commercial stakeholders, and executive audiences.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable recommendations; working experience in Python preferred, strong Excel skills required.
  • Experience across one or more financial products (virtuals, CRR/FTR, forward contracts) is a plus.
  • Self-directed, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining analytical rigor in a fast-paced operational environment; embraces a disciplined entrepreneurial culture.
  • Willingness to travel, up to 20%.
  • Comfortable thriving in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
  • A passion for sustainability, our mission, and our vision is a bonus!
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Energy Vault participates in E-Verify.
