JOB OBJECTIVES As Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play an integral role in To contribute to the attainment of Human Appeal's (HA) objectives by providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the organization's financial commitments are met, including developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control. To manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, while helping to drive business success by providing the financial insights that lead to better commercial decisions in the USA, as well as for HA's global offices. To establish strategies that will increase income, oversee accounting operations, produce accurate reports on where money is going within the business and improve or change current practices to increase efficiency. All with a view to ensuring the stability of HA's finances, along with its long-term financial health and growth. Must reside in Mission Viejo, CA to be considered.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the operational management of the Finance department
  • Provide a key role in driving the strategy and performance of the organization, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
  • Retaining constant awareness of the company's financial position and acting to prevent problems
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Conduct analysis to produce budgets and forecasts, and report on these at BoD and BoT level
  • Ensure the financial compliance of the organization, in line with relevant legislation, regulation, and audit recommendations
  • Oversee the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of financial data on HA computer systems (Salesforce, SAGE, NAVision)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in relevant Finance discipline
  • Certified Public Accountant required
  • (ACA; ACCA; CIMA) preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC:
  • Significant Senior-level financial leadership, management and oversight experience
  • Experience with, or exposure to, the non-for-profit or public sector
  • Experience with, or exposure to, financial management in developing countries
  • MS Office Suite. Experienced user of financial databases and systems. Previous experience using Salesforce, SAGE, and NAVision is desirable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
