Renaissance Public School Academy is currently hiring for a Full Time Special Education Aide.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Assist special education teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, physical, and social-emotional needs.

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support to reinforce classroom lessons and IEP goals.

  • Support students in accessing the general education curriculum through accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies.

  • Assist students with academic tasks, organization, communication, and daily classroom routines.

  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and utilize positive behavior support strategies under the direction of certified staff.

  • Assist students with personal care needs, mobility, feeding, toileting, or other activities of daily living as needed while maintaining student dignity and privacy.

  • Monitor student progress and collect data to support instructional and behavioral goals.

  • Prepare instructional materials, adaptive equipment, and classroom resources.

  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, arrival, dismissal, and other school activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and school policies.

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and other support staff to ensure student success.

  • Participate in school activities, meetings, professional development, and training as assigned.

  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents (as directed), and school staff.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Cognitive Demands:

  • Supervision of multiple students with varying academic, behavioral, and physical needs.

  • Implementing instructional accommodations and behavioral support plans.

  • Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

  • Following teacher direction while exercising sound judgment in supporting student needs.

  • Collecting and documenting student progress and behavioral data.

  • Adapting to changing student needs throughout the school day.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Participating in continuous professional development.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the school day.

  • Occasionally lift, transfer, or assist students and/or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Assist students with mobility, positioning, and personal care as needed.

  • Occasionally push wheelchairs or other adaptive equipment.

  • Assist with student safety during emergency situations.

  • Withstand moderate noise levels in classroom and school environments.

  • Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or college coursework in education, special education, psychology, child development, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities or special needs in an educational, childcare, or therapeutic setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of special education practices, behavior management techniques, and inclusive instructional strategies preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), First Aid, and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain if required.

  • Ability to meet all state, district, and school requirements for employment, including successful completion of required background checks.
