Job description

We are seeking a candidate with a bachelor's degree in communication, liberal arts, education, or a related field of study. Qualified candidates should be prepared to work with a wide variety of clients and personality types. Clients include high school students, their parents, and current college students. Advisors must be able to lead client meetings with confidence and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.


Advisors must be prepared to serve as a counselor, liaison, interpreter, mediator, and advisor, all-in-one and dependent on the client's needs. Professionally advising, researching, and active listening are core skill sets necessary to perform in this position, all working toward helping a family and a student prepare for going off to college.


Duties Include:

  • Provide resources and suggestions to match clients' interests with majors and minors, and suggest schools that excel in those areas while meeting their fit factors.
  • Advise students about program outcomes and career outlook.
  • Teach and practice job skills such as interviewing, resume writing, and professional communication.
  • Keep clients on pace with the college planning process, ensuring they meet all necessary admission and financial deadlines.
  • Analyze the financial health of colleges/universities and help clients understand the financial aid process.
  • Help students learn to research and identify sources of financial support for the school.
  • Assist students in developing, editing, and producing college essays through camps and one-on-one consultation.
  • Counsel current college students who are considering a major change.
  • Help clients assess their collegiate options and select the right school for the right price.


Experience:

  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes and requirements
  • Familiarity with financial aid options and scholarship opportunities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and guide students
  • Ability to analyze academic records and provide personalized recommendations
