Job description

ESCO Group is dedicated to empowering the polyurethane industry with precision and expertise by listening, understanding, and developing innovative product and equipment solutions.

Position Summary:

The Saw Service Technician supports the team by traveling to customer sites to install, repair, and troubleshoot equipment. This role is also responsible for performing final runout and testing of completed projects at the ESCO facility, assisting with customer factory acceptance tests (FAT), and providing technical support to customers.

This is a customer-facing position requiring a high level of professionalism and strong communication skills. Travel is irregular and is expected to be approximately 50–75% of the time.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer sites to install and commission custom cutting machinery and systems.
  • Inspect, test, and perform runout of equipment prior to shipment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation and equipment manuals.
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, and web-based platforms.
  • Travel primarily within the United States and Canada, with occasional international travel; must be able to obtain a U.S. passport.

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional departments to achieve company objectives.

Education & Experience

Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with ongoing education in maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Machine building, equipment manufacturing, installation, and commissioning
  • Food manufacturing (dairy, beverage, bakery, etc.)
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Chemical processing or manufacturing
  • Other related industries

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Pumps (gear, piston, pneumatic, centrifugal)
  • Valves, flow controls, piping, fittings, seals, and pneumatics
  • Power transmission systems (electric motors, gearboxes, cylinders, bearings)
  • Vacuum systems
  • Temperature control systems (electric, water, oil)
  • Hydraulic and electrical schematics and troubleshooting
  • PLC and HMI troubleshooting; basic programming preferred.
  • Industrial electronics troubleshooting and repair.

Experience with polyurethane processing equipment preferred but not required.

Valid driver’s license required.

Competencies:

  • Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret mechanical or electrical drawings, technical procedures, and product manuals. Be able to write reports and business correspondence. Be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual and multicultural communication skills are a plus.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve problems with limited information and direction.
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, Allen Bradley PLC software and navigation of the internet.
  • Communication - Ability to effectively receive and express ideas, both written and verbal; using clear and concise vocabulary and active listening skills.
  • Resource Management - Ability to discern appropriate use of company resources to accomplish goals, considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to detail, accuracy and completeness.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to recognize courses of action to handle problems, gathering and organizing information, identifying cause and effect relationships, and applying contingency plans to solve those problems.
