Senior HVAC Service Tech – Commercial & Industrial HVAC Service


Job Overview

  • Travel: Regional service/jobsite travel required within the assigned market; occasional support in other Florida markets may be needed based on project demand

The Opportunity

Schwenn Services & Contracting, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Service Tech to support commercial and industrial HVAC service work across the West Coast Florida / Tampa market.


This role is ideal for a senior-level commercial HVAC technician who is confident troubleshooting large-tonnage equipment, chilled water systems, controls, electrical/mechanical issues, and complex field conditions. You will work in commercial-only environments, including active and occupied facilities such as healthcare, government, school board, federal, VA, and secure commercial sites.


You will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex service work, support junior technicians, and help deliver safe, professional, high-quality HVAC solutions for long-term commercial clients.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Troubleshoot, service, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and repair large-tonnage HVAC equipment, including equipment rated at 20 tons and above.
  • Maintain, repair, and optimize chilled water systems, chillers, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to diagnose system issues accurately.
  • Troubleshoot variable frequency drives, controls, and related system components.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, airflow, refrigerant, or controls-related issues and recommend proper corrective action.
  • Support field workflow by coordinating with project managers, foremen, technicians, and other trades.
  • Assist with crane lifts, equipment changeouts, ductwork adjustments, and jobsite logistics when required.
  • Work professionally in active commercial, healthcare, school board, government, federal, and secure facility environments.
  • Mentor junior technicians and support safe, efficient field execution.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, jobsite communication, and client-facing professionalism.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • EPA Certification required.
  • Proven experience working directly with commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and servicing large-tonnage HVAC equipment, preferably 20 tons and above.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting chilled water systems, chillers, VFDs, and related commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Strong field troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, controls, and system performance issues.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to service/project sites within the West Coast Florida / Tampa market.
  • Ability to work in active commercial environments, including occupied or sensitive facilities.
  • Must be able to meet site-access requirements for government, healthcare, education, and secure commercial facilities, as applicable.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of commercial mechanical or HVAC service experience.
  • Experience working on healthcare, VA, military base, school board, government, federal, or secure/credentialed project sites.
  • Experience servicing industrial chillers, chilled water systems, large package units, split systems, RTUs, and controls.
  • Experience supporting or directing junior field technicians.
  • Experience with crane lifts, equipment replacements, rigging coordination, or large equipment logistics.
  • Strong communication skills when working with clients, facility staff, project managers, and other trades.
  • Professionalism working around patients, students, staff, public occupants, or client personnel in active facilities.
