Job description

POSITION:  1:1 Nurse    

LOCATION:   Woodbridge Middle School

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services    

CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled

Woodbridge School District is accepting applications for a 1:1 Nurse at WMS.  This is a full-time, temporary, 10-month, benefit-eligible specialist position. JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and reliable 1:1 Personal Nurse / Nursing Aide to provide direct medical and personal care support for a middle school student during the school day. The ideal candidate will ensure the student's health, safety, access to education, and dignity while collaborating with school staff and the student's healthcare team.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Candidates must have current certification/training in: Cough Assist Device Use, Suction Machine Operation, Feeding Tube Care/Management, Transfer Assist & Lift Operation, Toileting & Personal Care Support, Medication Administration, CPR Certified, AED Certified, First Aid (if not bundled with CPR)
  • Pediatric or school-based nursing experience preferred
  • Experience supporting students with complex medical needs
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and student-centered approach
  • Ability to assist with lifting and transfers up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull medical equipment and wheelchair as needed
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide 1:1medical support throughout the school day
  • Operate and monitor cough assist device
  • Utilize suction machine as medically required
  • Administer and manage feeding tube care and feedings
  • Provide transfer assistance
  • Assist with toileting and personal hygiene
  • Safely handle student lifts
  • Administer prescribed medications per medical orders
  • Monitor student's health status and respond to needs promptly
  • Maintain accurate daily medical documentation and logs
  • Follow all district health plans, IEP/504 accommodations, and physician orders
  • Collaborate with school nurse, therapists, and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA/HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in training, meetings, and professional development as required.
