Job Description

Position Title: Unix Systems Engineer/Websphere System Administrator

Location: Washington, DC.

Duration: 12 Months

Seeking a Unix Systems Engineer/Websphere System Administrator to support the Smart Analytics environment for the CCTI project Support (SOW0028), and Disaster Recovery (SOW005). The candidate should have strong experience with IBM's AIX operating system, WebSphere Administration and MQSeries, Support for COGNOS applications, POWER Unix servers, as well as an understanding of Network Install Manager (NIM) and DB2.

The project supports a Data Warehouse environment using IBM's Smart Analytics System. The Smart Analytics is an appliance-like solution that consists of POWER servers running AIX, DS3500 storage, DB2 Warehouse, WebSphere, and Cognos. The environment also contains LDAP and Ab Initio.

Tasks:

Provide technical support for the CCTI disaster recovery environment

Provide support to application development staff with architecture, development and Migration of WebSphere and MQSeries applications.

Provide support to application development staff with deployment and problem resolution of COGNOS applications

Manage Unix servers contained in the Smart Analytics solution

Perform user management tasks in the Smart Analytics environment.

Perform maintenance on the Smart Analytics environment using the Smart Analytics management console.

Provide support for Test and Production outages.

Provide support for application upgrades.

Perform system backups and manage the NIM environment.

Create all necessary documents and communicate to the team in support of the projects

Assist with problem analysis and resolution

Implement reports and automation to manage and monitor the environments

Attend meetings to provide technical analysis / support.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

4. Ability to work proactively

Specific Required Skills

5-8 years' experience in the administration and management of AIX systems and POWER hardware Experience using the WebSphere Application Server console for monitoring, starting, and stopping of applications

Experience supporting COGNOS applications

Script writing to simplify tasks

Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills

Familiarity with SAN storage concepts and IBM storage subsystems
