Job description

Coding Quality Educator

The Coding Quality Educator is a vital component to the success of the Enterprise Professional Coding team and to the customers they serve. Their role is to serve in a business partnership capacity by providing their assigned specialties with education on documentation opportunities to compliantly support level of services, review opportunities to bridge the gap between clinical documentation and coding/billing guidelines and explore opportunities for revenue generation. This role involves educating medical coders, healthcare providers, residents, and/or allied health professionals on coding best practices, documentation requirements, and payer-specific guidelines. The Coding Quality Educator must possess expertise in coding principles, the ability to identify areas for improvement, and the capability to provide training to enhance the skills of both coders and healthcare providers.

Individual contributors with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Spends majority of time leading the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education (typically University). Established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general to limited supervision. Problems faced are difficult and may be complex. May influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures. May have project management responsibilities on small, less-complex projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: 5 years relevant experience required. 5 years of coding experience in a tertiary setting preferred.
  • Licensure: Coding certification through the AHIMA or AAPC as a RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CCA, and CPC, preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently traveling (no more than two miles); Repetitive motion: (Typing). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. May be exposed to cold, heat and outdoor climate.

The pay range for this role is $80,000.00 - $102,857.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
