Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour
Description of the Position: The St. Olaf Athletic Department streams all of its home football, volleyball, soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, and softball games and is looking for students to assist in the production of those live streams. You will work as a camera operator and/or director from a studio on campus to produce live streams watched by parents, other family members, fans, and alumni from all over the country and world.
If you are interested in learning more about audio and video production, apply today! All students receive training on our equipment and procedures. No previous audio/video experience is needed.
Work hours are almost exclusively on afternoons and nights during the week and on weekends. Students have the opportunity to sign up for shifts that fit their schedule, but students typically work 5-10 hours per week. The expectation is that students will work multiple shifts per week.
Transferable Skills: Audio/video production, communication skills, ability to work in a team and independently, problem solving
Duties and Responsibilities: Students typically start as camera operators, controlling cameras mounted in the athletic venues from a studio on campus. Directors are responsible for running the broadcasts, switching between camera shots, loading graphics, communicating with broadcasters, instructing camera operators on types of shots to get, and archiving the live stream.
Qualifications: Interest in and experience watching sports, as well as a knowledge of a variety of sports, are preferred. Technical experience is helpful but not required - training will be provided. Attention to schedule and a willingness to arrive on time and stay until work is done is required. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong work ethic, responsibility, and ability to work independently.
