Job description

WDAF-TV Fox4 in Kansas City is seeking a News Producer. The News Producer produces daily newscast items, decides the order in which stories will be told, writes teases and other content, times news programs, edits video, and posts video to the website.
  • Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
  • Writes and orders news stories
  • Approves story scripts
  • Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
  • Search wire services, network feeds, websites, and social media to find relevant content for newscasts
  • Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
  • Build graphics and effectively use them in newscasts
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Requirements & Skills:
    o Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
    o Fluency in English
    o Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    o Two years' experience in news operations preferred
    o Learn and utilize newsroom technology
    o Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    o Flexibility to work any shift
