Job description

Storm Master Exteriors already has an experienced carpentry crew on staff (no subs) that knows how to build.

We're looking for an experienced residential exteriors carpentry Project Manager to lead them.

This is a hands-on Project Manager position for someone who understands residential exterior construction, knows how to organize people and projects, communicates well, and can take ownership of multiple fast-moving jobs from handoff through completion.

We're looking for someone who can walk into a project, figure out what needs to happen, build the plan, mobilize the right people and equipment, and keep everything moving.

EXTERIOR CONSTRUCTION SKILLS NEEDED

We're looking for strong working knowledge across residential exterior carpentry, including:

✔ Siding, soffit & fascia
✔ Windows & exterior doors
✔ Decks, porches & exterior structures
✔ Exterior trim & finish carpentry
✔ Framing, sheathing & repairs
✔ Water intrusion and problem-solving
✔ General residential exterior construction

TEAM LEADER SKILLS NEEDED

A good PM doesn't just assign names to jobs. We need a strong project manager and team leader that:

  • Knows their crew - their strengths, weaknesses, experience and capabilities
  • Recognizes crew member’s strengths and talents, and put the right people in the right positions to maximize production
  • Knows how to teach where someone needs development
  • Holds crew members to high standards
  • Build a crew in a positive environment that gets stronger because you're leading it

YOU OWN THE JOB

When Sales hands you a project folder, you should be able to review it and ask:

What do I know? What's missing? What could become a problem? What do I need answered before we mobilize?

Then go get the answers.

You'll be responsible for things like:

✔ Reviewing scopes, measurements, selections and job folders
✔ Identifying missing information before production begins
✔ Asking the right questions and resolving uncertainties
✔ Planning labor, equipment and materials
✔ Scheduling and mobilizing crews efficiently
✔ Ordering materials when needed
✔ Tracking project expenses and material usage
✔ Monitoring crew hours and capabilities
✔ Communicating with customers throughout production
✔ Tracking project status, changes and outstanding issues
✔ Keeping clear notes and communicating updates to the home office
✔ Inspecting workmanship and driving projects through completion

ORGANIZATION MATTERS HERE

Construction moves fast.

Weather changes.
Customers call.
Materials get delayed.
Another job finishes early.
Something unexpected gets uncovered behind the siding.

A strong Project Manager doesn't create more chaos when that happens. He organizes it.

We're looking for someone who can keep multiple moving pieces straight, communicate early, document what matters, adjust the plan, and keep people moving in the right direction.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

✔ Significant residential exterior construction experience
✔ Project management, foreman or crew leadership experience
✔ Strong organization and follow-through
✔ Excellent communication skills
✔ Confident decision-making and problem-solving
✔ Ability to lead, teach and hold people accountable
✔ Comfortable with scheduling and digital processes
✔ Material estimating and ordering knowledge
✔ Basic job-cost and expense awareness
✔ Strong attention to detail
✔ Ownership mentality

Organized scheduling and clearer expectations
A local company with deep Mid-Michigan roots
