About Quarterback Transportation


Quarterback Transportation is a logistics provider specializing in transportation, freight movement, and supply chain solutions across North America. We support customers with reliable service, strong carrier relationships, and a solutions-focused approach to moving freight efficiently and effectively.

Quarterback Transportation is hiring a hands-on Controller to lead Accounting and partner closely with HR and IT, working directly with CEO and the Executive Team to strengthen reporting, controls, and scalable processes across the business.


What you'll do


  • Work directly with all members of the executive team to support financial reporting, planning, and business decision-making.
  • Lead month-end/year-end close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages including P&L and balance sheet with variance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly reporting package for the bank.
  • Oversee A/P, A/R, and day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Prepare bi-monthly payroll and ensure accurate reconciliations and controls (working alongside HR).
  • Produce monthly commission reporting, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making with actionable insights.
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and documentation; coordinate audit/tax support.
  • Prepare year-end review schedules and act as the primary liaison with external accountants.
  • Support accounting and reporting for Quarterback Transportation's Canadian and U.S. entities, as well as multiple holding companies.
  • Lead and develop a team of 7 direct reports.
  • Partner with HR and leadership to review, create, and administer compensation plans, including commission structures and supporting documentation.


What we're looking for

  • CPA preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10+ years progressive accounting/finance experience; Controller experience an asset.
  • Strong close/reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls background.
  • Experience supporting multi-entity structures (Canada/U.S. and holding companies) is a strong asset.
  • Payroll, commission reporting, and compensation plan administration experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) strongly preferred.
  • Freight brokerage experience is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort improving reporting and processes within ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
