Job Title: Hotel Accountant
Location: Seattle, WA
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports to: Centralized Accounting Department (Corporate Office)


About the Role
Coast Hotels is looking for a Hotel Accountant to support the Finance & Accounting team by providing accurate and timely financial and administrative work at the property level. This role focuses on managing accounts payable and receivable, recording daily financial transactions, and helping with monthly reporting. The Hotel Accountant plays an important role in keeping financial records organized, following company policies, and helping the hotel run smoothly.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Tasks

  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and posting of payments such as cash, checks, credit cards, and electronic transfers.
  • Maintain organized files, records, and statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile assigned accounts daily or weekly and report any differences to the manager.
  • Research and resolve payment or billing issues quickly and accurately.
  • Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and other end-of-month duties.
  • Verify that charges, taxes, and calculations on invoices are correct and match contracts.
  • Review and approve credit applications following company policies.
  • Conduct food and beverage inventory counts and record results.
  • Enter data into accounting systems and create standard reports and statistics as needed.
  • Follow all Finance & Accounting procedures and company policies when completing tasks.

Team & Property Support

  • Respond to internal and external financial questions and audit requests in a professional manner.
  • Support other team members and hotel departments as needed.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the property, guests, and team members when performing duties.
  • Represent the Finance & Accounting department as a professional and helpful Ambassador.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Director of Accounting.
  • Look for ways to improve processes and increase efficiency within the department.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; additional education in Accounting is an asset.
  • 1–2 years of experience in accounting or related financial work.
  • Basic knowledge of accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R).
  • Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Professional phone manners and good conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable with learning and using accounting software.
