Job description

Wegner CPAs is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and serve as a trusted accounting resource for a portfolio of clients. In this role, you'll oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, coordinate client workflows, and build strong relationships with clients and their professional advisors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with clients, solving problems, managing multiple priorities, and serving as a technical resource to both clients and colleagues.
What You'll Do
  • Manage day-to-day accounting and reporting activities for assigned clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Utilize accounting platforms including Bill.com, Sage Intacct, and QuickBooks Online to coordinate client transactions and workflows.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and coordinate the flow of information with tax teams, outside auditors, and other professional service providers.
  • Coordinate and review the work of A/P, A/R, and Payroll Specialists supporting client engagements.
  • Monitor client cash flow and maintain necessary schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Review and approve Bill.com transactions before they are released to clients for approval.
  • Prepare bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Complete daily and monthly accounting transactions and month-end closing processes.
  • Review and approve transaction coding and general ledger classifications.
  • Prepare and organize accurate, well-documented workpapers.
  • Review general ledgers for completeness, accuracy, and missing transactions.
  • Develop and maintain documented accounting procedures to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare interim financial statements and supplementary schedules as needed.
  • Apply and develop technical knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and proactive communication.
  • Communicate regularly with engagement leaders and provide weekly updates on client engagements.
  • Develop expertise in one or more accounting applications and serve as a firm resource for that technology.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and training to staff and intern-level associates, including reviewing their work.
  • Manage multiple client engagements and priorities while meeting deadlines and budget expectations.

What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years of accounting or related professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting software.
  • Working Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to train, mentor, and develop less-experienced team members.

Preferred:
  • Public accounting experience.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience with Bill.com, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Experience serving multiple clients or managing multiple accounting engagements.
