The Business Analyst partners with cross-functional teams across J.Jill, including Real Estate, Marketing, Retail Operations, and Merchandising, to provide data-driven insights that support strategic business decisions. This role performs end-to-end business analysis by translating business questions into actionable recommendations through SQL queries, Excel spreadsheets, and data visualization. The Business Analyst evaluates business performance, analyzes A/B testing results, develops automated reporting solutions using BI tools such as Qlik Sense and Databricks AI/BI, and presents findings through clear, impactful presentations and reports. Additionally, the role supports real estate strategy by developing sales forecasts for new store locations, closures, and transfers to help drive profitable growth.


  • Builds partnerships and operates cross functionally to provide analytical decision support to leaders to increase revenue and profit of various initiatives.
  • Takes an active role in conception, design, execution, and analysis of corporate-wide testing activities.
  • Understands key performance indicators that drive company results and determines how these metrics track against overall business strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Takes initiative acting as a subject matter expert on analytics, quantification, and process automation and provides advanced analytics to support longer-range plans and initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations for improvements to tools, scorecards, KPIs & benchmarks.
  • Performs end-to-end business analytics: 1) Understands business question 2) Structures Excel spreadsheet 3) Builds accurate SQL queries (validating results) 4) Summarizes analytical insights and business recommendations into a PowerPoint deck and/or email.
  • Performs data analysis tasks, evalution of A/B Tests, etc. to develop recommendations that will improve decision making across the organization.
  • Develops automated self-service business reporting through BI tools including Qlik Sense and Databricks AI/BI.
  • Calculates sales estimates for potential new store locations as well as store closure and store transfer estimates for existing stores.

  • Advanced SQL skills required; experience with statistical predictive analytics tools like R and Python preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of business experience in an analytical or technical role.
  • Advanced Excel and SQL skills required.
  • Statistical analysis and predictive modeling (R, Python) experience preferred.
  • Reporting and analysis experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or quantitative discipline (statistics, math) preferred.
