Main Purpose of Job

This active Maryland Commission is seeking a rate analyst to perform hospital rate analysis and rate setting activities. Duties include the implementation of the HSCRC Global Budget Revenue ("GBR") rate setting methodologies for hospitals; evaluation and analysis of monthly unit rate and revenue target compliance; development and implementation of technical changes and modifications to the GBR to incorporate Commission approved policy changes; the review and analysis of partial rate applications; and assist in performing the review of Full Rate Applications filed with, or initiated by, the Commission.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, economics, hospital administration or health care administration/policy from an accredited college or university and (2) two years of internship or on the job experience reviewing, analyzing, or implementing rates hospitals charge for medical services, and auditing/reviewing hospital records for compliance with established rates and Commission policies. Possession of a master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, administrative sciences, hospital administration or health care administration/policy from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates should possess an understanding of the Commission's\r\nfunction, and purpose in the delivery of health care in Maryland hospitals is\r\npreferred. The successful candidate should possess good computer skills, particularly spreadsheet applications. Other programming skills are desirable, but\r\nnot required. The successful candidate\r\nshould also demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and interact with\r\nstaff, hospitals officials, consultants and other health care officials.\r\n
