The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, to serve in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. This position will provide clinical care in the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia, in addition to education for pediatric fellows, residents, and medical students at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Patient Care/Service - 87%
Become board certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by year four (4)/maintain board certification.
Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient experience.
Be clinically productive through the provision of clinical services at Wellstar MCG Health and the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia.
Participate in on-call duties with other faculty. Nights, weekends, holidays.
Meet all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
Become increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
Meet and maintain wRVU productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Productivity targets are subject to change.
Support departmental efforts in promoting good professional relationships with AU physicians and physicians outside of AU (referring physicians in community, region and state).
Provide prompt feedback to referring physicians.
Teaching/Instruction - 13%
Provide education and training to residents, medical students and staff in pediatric critical care medicine which includes but is not limited to: clinical supervision, consultation and didactics.
Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean.
Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent from a appropriately accredited institution and be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Must have or be able to obtain a State of Georgia Medical License, federal DEA, and be PALS/CPR certified.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
