Job description

About HeyGen
At HeyGen, our mission is to make visual storytelling accessible to all. Over the last decade, visual content has become the preferred method of information creation, consumption, and retention. But the ability to create such content, in particular videos, continues to be costly and challenging to scale. Our ambition is to build technology that equips more people with the power to reach, captivate, and inspire audiences.

The Role
We're looking for a PR Manager to help build HeyGen's reputation as a leading company in AI-powered video.
This role will focus on securing high-impact earned media, shaping our narrative in the AI conversation, and elevating the voice of our founders and leadership across technology and business media.
You'll work closely with the marketing team and company leadership to identify compelling stories, pitch journalists directly, and turn product launches, company milestones, and industry trends into meaningful coverage.
This role reports directly to the CMO and will play an important role in shaping how HeyGen shows up in the broader AI conversation.
This is a full-time contractor role with the opportunity to convert into a full-time position as the function scales.
What You'll Do
Media Relations
  • Build relationships with journalists, editors, and influential newsletters covering AI, startups, and technology.
  • Directly pitch and secure coverage in tier-1 outlets and leading AI/tech publications.
  • Identify compelling story angles tied to product launches, industry trends, and cultural moments.
Founder & Executive Visibility
  • Position HeyGen's founders and executives as thought leaders in AI and the future of communication.
  • Secure podcast appearances, interviews, and speaking opportunities.
  • Help craft messaging and talking points for external appearances.
Product & Company Announcements
  • Lead PR efforts around product launches, partnerships, and company milestones.
  • Coordinate embargoes, media briefings, and launch-day outreach.
  • Work closely with product marketing to translate product updates into compelling media stories.
Awards & Recognition
  • Identify and submit HeyGen for relevant awards, rankings, and industry lists across AI, startups, and media.
Narrative & Share of Voice
  • Help strengthen HeyGen's presence in the broader AI conversation.
  • Track coverage and identify opportunities to increase our share of voice in the AI video category.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means consistently generating meaningful earned media and increasing HeyGen's visibility in the AI ecosystem. Examples include:
  • Regular placements in tier-1 outlets and influential AI/tech publications
  • Strong relationships with journalists covering AI, startups, and creator technology
  • Increased share of voice in conversations around AI video and AI-powered communication
  • Growing visibility for HeyGen's founders and leadership through podcasts, interviews, and speaking opportunities
What We're Looking For
  • 5-8 years of experience in PR, communications, or media relations.
  • Experience working with technology, AI, or startup companies.
  • Strong relationships with journalists covering tech, startups, or AI.
  • Proven track record securing tier-1 and high-impact media coverage.
  • Excellent storytelling instincts and strong written communication skills.
  • Highly proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment.
AI-Native Mindset
We believe the best operators today are AI-native.
You should be comfortable using AI tools to research, draft, analyze, and move faster in your work. We're looking for someone who embraces AI as a way to multiply their output and effectiveness, not someone who works the old-school PR playbook.
Location
  • Preferred: Los Angeles or San Francisco
  • Remote candidates will also be considered for the right fit.
Contract Details
  • Competitive Base Salary - $12,000-$18,000/month
  • Full-time contractor role
  • Opportunity to convert to full-time employment as the function grows.
