Job Description:

Responsibilities:

The Public Relations Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing & Public Relations to support the Public Relations Department through the execution of public relations initiatives with the intent to increase guest patronage and profitability, enhance brand awareness, protect the organization's reputation and drive local, regional, national and international publicity for Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. This is done through actively pursuing positive media exposure; organizing and supporting onsite media tours and FAM trips; supporting internal job functions including but not limited to relating to gaming, entertainment, hotel, food & beverage and special events/philantrophy; representing the organization when needed at internal and off-site events and interfacing with supporting agencies and vendors.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize and implement media relations and public relations functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop PR strategies and campaigns that align with brand objectives, goals and audience
  • Write press releases, media alerts, radio scripts, and copy for print, on-line content.
  • Proofread marketing materials and information.
  • Draft website copy and content, maintain current press kit.
    Draft pitch letters and targeted communications to niche audiences and media outlets.
  • Interface with PR agency partners, offer direction, brand guidance and creative suggestions to increase publicity to key audience and markets.
  • Facilitate all onsite news media logistics with internal departments including Executive Management, Security, Casino Operations, Gaming Commission, Public Space and other internal departments.
  • Provide PR support for on-property filming, media broadcasts and photoshoots across all shifts.
  • Vet media solicitation calls. Follow up with media agency for recommendations.
  • Coordinate and manage media events, press conferences, and FAM trips for journalists, bloggers, and influencers. Oversee all logistics, including invitations, accommodations, transportation, and on-site media coordination.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, representing the brand at special events, trade shows, and networking opportunities, etc. Build relationships with key stakeholders, media, industry associations, and relevant influencers to enhance the brand visibility and reputation
  • Maintain photo galleries of property shots and events.
  • Support on-site and off-site marketing sponsorship and community relations activites as required.
  • Organize digital assets and communication files.
    Review media proposals for approval.
    Maintain and organize publicity clips and monitor alerts throughout the day.
    Provide Social Media team relevant and timely information regarding Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood events, entertainment, celebrity opportunities and promotions.
  • Vet media calls and requests.
  • Work directly with all facets of mass media to get them the information they need to maximize exposure while protecting and upholding the image and best interest of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
  • Work cohesively with vendors including creative agency, printing partners and internal departments to ensure marketing collateral meets brand standards and reflects most up-to-date information.
  • Coordinate swag bags and media giveaways for special appearances and seasonal exposure.
  • Maintain and update the crisis communication plan and be available to support the PR team as needed.
  • Maintain lists: community, vendor, partner and social and media lists for invites and follow up.
  • Provide research and planning assistance for long- and short-term PR initiatives.
  • Maintain and coordinate media lists and processing of awards for Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood media exposure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-5 year's experience in a PR agency or PR corporate environment, with proven success in securing media opportunities
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, and other organizational systems
  • Understanding of the media relations landscape
  • Experience in writing press releases, stories, and other relevant content for external communications
  • Experience in pitching stories to reporters, samples of published clips, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong media relations and networking abilities
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage crises effectively
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online reputation management
  • Work well in a high-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business and internal contacts
  • Ability to exercise initiative, strategic thinking and independent judgment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to strategically coordinate logistics among multiple departments
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms

  • Spanish speaker preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Duties and responsibilities may be performed on the Casino Floor in a fast-paced, smoking environment with constant exposure to general public and excessive noise, in a professional office setting and at times off property.
  • This position requires frequent standing and walking and the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.

First preference in hiring, training, promoting and in all other aspects of employment is given to members of the Seminole Tribe who meet the job requirements. Second preference is given to members of other federally recognized Native American Tribes who meet the job requirements.

Seminole Gaming's employment process requires candidates to obtain gaming licensure by successfully completing a background check with Seminole Gaming Compliance and Regulations, prior to beginning employment. These background checks may include, but are not limited to:
